Cass Meadow, Rich Environmental Park

Field Trip of the ABNC
May 10, 2009

Six birder's met at Cass meadow to look for migrants and enjoy the great area we have so close to home. The weather cool and sunny.

The following birds were seen or heard:

Northern Cardinal
Chipping Sparrow
Blue Jay
Carolina Wren
Catbird
American Crow
Common Yellowthroat
Tree Swallow
Common Grackle
Song Sparrow
Turkey Vulture
Rock Pigeon
Northern Flicker
Indigo Bunting
Mallard
Black Duck
Downey Woodpecker
Northern Oriole
Eastern Kingbird
Common Raven
Red-winged Blackbird
Yellow Warbler
Rose-breasted Grosbeak

The following were seen or heard later at the Athol sewage treatment plant:

Wood Duck
Green Heron
Warbling Vireo
Least Flycatcher
Swamp Sparrow
Spotted Sandpiper
Rough-winged Swallow
Kingfisher
Northern Flicker
Chimney Swift
House Sparrow

The following animals were also seen:

Groundhog
Skunk(very close)!
